This book brings together thirteen interviews with female writers. 

It is part of an independent research project, started in 2018 and concluded in 2021. 

It aims to collect testimonies from women born in Angola who, for various reasons and circumstances, had to leave their native country. 

It also aims to encourage others to do the same for men and women who have been forced to emigrate.

Ana Branco, Aida Gomes, Branca Clara das Neves, Dulce Braga, Luiza Leston da Sylvan, Maria Jawaa and Ondina Coelho were born in Angola when this African country was a Portuguese colony/overseas province; while by the time Katya Figueiredo, Nair Gonçalves, Raquel Lima, Sónia Gomes, Yara Nakahanda Monteiro and Telma Tvon were born, Angola was already an independent country. 

Raquel Lima is the only one who was born in Lisbon, Portugal, a country to where her parents, born in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, had to immigrate.
